The Master in Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language is for licensed teachers who wish to add an endorsement in ESL. Mary Baldwin’s 34-credit program can be completed in two years, and teachers with ELLs in their classrooms can receive field credit.
Our program provides a broad understanding in:
- Designing curriculum, instruction, and assessments for ELLs
- Meeting the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students from academic and cultural perspectives
- Incorporating technology into instruction
- Designing and conducting inquiry research
Note: this program may require Virginia fieldwork to complete.
Meet your students’ needs with MBU
Teaching is about forging real connections with students and helping them break down their barriers to learning. For many students, the largest barrier is language itself. As the English Language Learner (ELL) population grows, so does the demand for specially trained instructors to help these students succeed inside and outside the classroom.
Mary Baldwin University’s Master of Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language (ESL) provides the skills you need to make a true difference in the lives of ELL students, allowing you to address one of the fastest-growing needs in education.
If your interest is piqued to work with culturally and linguistically diverse students, this program is for you.
